2007 Dodge Sprinter 2500 Oil Filter Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Change an Oil Filter and Safely Dispose of Used Oil on 2007 Dodge Sprinter 2500?
A: Follow the service schedule to replace the engine oil at the mileage you've driven. Don't let used or new engine oil stay on your skin for a long time. Be careful not to wash exposed skin with used oil or gas, diesel fuel, thinner or solvents, because they can be harmful to your health. You should take your used engine oil to a special collection center recommended by your dealer or the government. After running the engine until it's warm, park the car in an upright position and stop the engine before changing the oil. Carefully open your hood, locate the oil fill cap and lift the vehicle onto a hoist. Underneath the crankcase, set a drain pan and use a wrench to open the drain plug of the oil pan to drain the oil into the pan. Check that the drain plug threads are fine and if there are any problems, simply change out both the plug and gasket. Remove the cap over the oil filter housing (1) and the oil filter and add a drain plug in the crankcase, tightening it to 27 Nm (20 ft. lbs.). Add a new oil filter and tighten it into place (1), next put on the oil filter housing cap, then lower the car, add the prescribed engine oil and, finally, twist the oil fill cap in place. Once you've started the engine, do a quick check for oil leaks and then stop it to check the oil. Every engine comes standard with a top-quality full-flow, disposable oil filter, so always use a Mopar(R) filter or one similar when you replace the oil filter. Take care when getting rid of used engine oil after you drain it from the car.
