2007 Dodge Sprinter 2500 Camshaft Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Service and Repair a Camshaft on 2007 Dodge Sprinter 2500?
A: Place the crankshaft at 40 degrees passed top dead center before touching the camshaft. Then, place the camshafts and hold them steady by using the camshaft hold downs (1). After that, install the intake and exhaust camshaft adjuster, then take out the drift (3) from the camshaft adjuster. Make sure the camshaft adjuster marks are correct when you put in the timing chain. Fix the center valve to the exhaust camshaft adjuster using a Torx bit and then place the exhaust camshaft pulse wheel. Instead of the exhaust camshaft, use the intake camshaft and a Torx bit to secure the center valve from the camshaft adjuster, then install the intake camshaft pulse wheel. Install the appropriate combination of bolts for the camshaft adjuster and then set in place the cylinder head cover, ignition coils and the engine harness. Secure the upper front cover around the right cylinder head so the number tag is seen through the holes where the camshaft sensor will be placed. After attaching the camshaft position sensors in the upper cover of the right front section, add the oil separator and its center bolt, then the centrifugal oil separator cover. Then, replace the camshaft plug, fix the air control valve gasket and screw in the air control valve from the right head.
