- Q: How to Install an Automatic Transmission Shifter on 2007 Dodge Sprinter 3500?A: The first step for installing the shifter A/T is to connect the shift cable to the bracket on the lever assembly and fasten it using the clip. After that, hook the transmission shift cable onto the ball knob at the SLA. Press the tab on the park lock cable coupling together and push it into the SLA while it's against the spring force and turn the coupling through 90° to lock it in place. Place the shift lever assembly on the car and bolt it to the SLA, using a force of 6 Nm (53 in.lbs.). Link all the electrical connectors, turn the ignition on, press the brakes and put the selector lever back to "D." After that, you should install the bottom and top of the center area of the instrument panel.
