  A: Start the fuel filter service by detaching the negative battery cable first. After that, disconnect the connection between the water in fuel (WIF) sensor harness and the sensor itself. With special tool #9539, cut the hose clamps on the fuel inlet and outlet side of the fuel filter. When that is done, remove the fuel filter retaining bracket bolt and pull out the fuel filter. Afterward, remove the WIF sensor from the fuel filter. It's important there are no flames, sparks or smoking during this procedure and that you cover your clothing to avoid fuel getting on you. Don't twist, bend or cut the fuel hose clamps; each clamp can be used again with tool #9539 and special clamps should only used when refueling.
