  A: Before carrying out any work on the fuel filter, take off the negative battery cable. After that, take out the water in fuel (WIF) sensor harness connector. Take out the screws holding the fuel inlet and outlet hose clamps and take out the hoses by the fuel filter. Remove the bracket bolt and pull out the fuel filter. Remove the WIF sensor from the fuel filter as the last step. Don't have flames, sparks or smoke present during the process so that you don't poison yourself from breathing in the fumes or get injured by skin or eye contact with fuel. Keep fuel containers designed for the job and be sure to wear safety clothing. Do not bend, twist or cut the fuel hose clamps, since they can be reused with special tool #9539 and the original clamps should be used for fuel system servicing.
