2007 Dodge Sprinter 3500 Wheel Bearing Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Install and Service a Wheel Bearing on 2007 Dodge Sprinter 3500?
A: Place the Outer Hub Bearing Cup with Installer 9588 and hammer before fitting the Inner Hub Bearing Cup using Bearing Cup Installer 10099 and Universal Drive Handle C-4171. Apply Total-use grease and wipe it to fully cover the surface of the bearings before you fit inner wheel bearing (3). Apply the Hylomar SQ 32 M sealant along the edge of the new seal (2), remembering not to put sealant on the rubber parts. Lean the wheel ridge firmly toward the seal as you install Seal Installer 10098 and Universal Drive Handle C-4171, keeping the seal ring flush with the wheel hub or so that it doesn't sit more than 3 mm (0.12 in.) deep. After that, spread Hylomar SQ 32 M sealant on the base of the ABS sensor ring (1) and set it in place with Tone Ring Installer 10097, along with Universal Drive Handle C-4171. Place the hub on the axle, set the outer hub bearing and thrust washer (1) into place, as the thrust washer comes in just one orientation and cannot be placed the opposite way. Put the inner hub nut in place (1), place Hub Nut Socket 10095 on top and tighten to 300 Nm (221 ft. lbs.) as you rotate the sink. With the nut still reversed inside, tighten it so that it touches the thrust washer and has no movement and then tighten it an additional 1/8 turn. Install the locking plate, then put in the nut of the outer hub (1) and use the Hub Nut Socket 10095 to tighten it up to 250 Nm (184 ft. lbs.). After that, fit the axle shaft, brake caliper and support and adjust the parking brakes.
