2007 Jeep Compass A/C Hose Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Install the Upper A/C Hose on 2007 Jeep Compass?
A: First, put the assembly of the A/C liquid and suction lines into the engine compartment. Remove all tape and plugs from the refrigerant ends and evaporator ports. Be sure to grease the rubber O-rings of the dual-plane seals with clean R-134a refrigerant oil before putting one on each of the liquid and suction line fittings. Couple the assembly to the A/C evaporator and attach it with a bolt set to 12 Nm (105 in. lbs.). Attach the retainers to the power brake booster vacuum supply hose in RHD models. After installing the refrigerant line bracket, put in the nut and tighten it to 4.5 Nm (40 in. lbs.). Then, add the windshield washer reservoir, the power steering reservoir and the engine coolant reservoir. Attach the heat shield to the dash panel with its studs and use three nuts to tighten each one to 1 Nm (10 in. lbs.). Drive the vehicle up into the air, then take out any tape or plugs from the liquid line fitting and condenser port. Use lubricant on a new rubber O-ring seal and put both a new gasket and the seal over the liquid line fitting onto the A/C condenser and tighten the retaining nut to 5 Nm (44 in. lbs.). After the accumulator is in, drop the vehicle, reattach the negative cable from the battery, empty the old refrigerant, check and change the refrigerant oil and by then energize the A/C lines. Lay the lower A/C suction line in the engine compartment, peel tape or plugs from the suction line fitting and compressor port, grease the rubber O-ring seal and attach it to the suction line fitting using a new gasket. Link the lower A/C suction line to the A/C compressor, but before you do, make sure the nut is tightened to 20 Nm (15 ft. lbs.). After that, remove the tape or plugs from both the suction line fitting and the accumulator port, grease the new rubber O-ring seal with fresh grease and attach this seal with a new gasket to the suction line fitting. Attach the lower line from the A/C to the accumulator, tightening the jointer to 5 Nm (44 in. lbs.). Relocate the front edge of the right front wheel house splash shield to the body, fixing it with three push-pin retainers and three screws. Place the front wheel properly in its spot, bring the vehicle down and join the negative cable to the battery. Do not allow the engine to run with a vacuum present or perfume pump working to prevent damages to the A/C compressor. Lastly, drain out the refrigerant gas, level the oil in the system and charge the air conditioning unit.
