How to Properly Service an Oil Filter to Prevent Deformation on 2007 Jeep Compass?

There is more strength in the base plate joining the can to the base, so make sure the tool band strap is on the remove/install tool against the lock seam, when you service the oil filter. Turn off your engine, remove the oil filter by unscrewing it counterclockwise with an appropriate wrench.
