2007 Jeep Compass Timing Cover Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Effectively Service and Repair a Timing Cover on 2007 Jeep Compass?
A: Before you start, lift the engine cover upward, then do the fuel pressure bleed procedure. Release the negative cable at the battery and remove the coolant bottle connected to the hose. After removing the power steering reservoir, unhook the fuel line, the make-up air hose and PCV hose. Drop the ignition coil connectors and then take the cylinder head cover off. Hold the car up and pull off the right lower splash shield before setting the engine at its top dead center. Unplug the accessory drive belt, then undo the bolts that hold the lower A/C compressor and take out its bracket. After that, take out the accessory drive belt lower idler pulley, crankshaft damper, front crankshaft oil seal and water pump pulley. Take out the bottom bolt on the engine mount bracket and the lower bolts on the timing chain cover as well. Next, set the vehicle down and eliminate the support for the steering line, then take the power steering pump out and place it by itself. Place the engine on a jack, add some wood under the oil pan and remove the bolts from the right engine mount to bracket. Detach the upper idler pulley in the drive belt accessory, the right bracket for the engine mount and the accessory drive belt tensioner. Now, take out the retaining bolts from the timing chain cover and pop it loose using your pry points, then remove it from the bottom.
