2007 Jeep Grand Cherokee Harmonic Balancer Parts and Q&A
Q: How Is the Harmonic Balancer Installed on 2007 Jeep Grand Cherokee?
A: Always start by making sure the harmonic balancer bore and crankshaft nose are spotless to avoid damaging the engine. Ensure the crankshaft harmonic balancer's slot fits the key in the crankshaft, then place it on the crankshaft so the slot touches it. Secure Armor Special Tool 8512-A by threading the nut (2) onto the threaded rod (3), before positioning the roller bearing (1) over the threaded rod with its hardened area towards the nut (4). When completed, slide the hardened washer (5) onto the threaded rod. Apply some Mopar(R) Nickel Anti-Seize or an equivalent product to the threads of the threaded rod. Press the harmonic balancer onto the crankshaft using Special Tool 8512-A and then use your fingers to secure and tighten the bolt to 175 Nm (130 ft. lbs.). Next, connect the radiator fan, fit the accessory drive belt and join the negative cable once again to the battery.
