How to Maintain a Catalytic Converter on 2007 Jeep Patriot?

Catalytic converter service must be done only when the exhaust system is cool because it quickly heats up near the converter after the engine runs. Before you change the catalytic converter, check the air, fuel or ignition system as the fault is likely there. First, take out the under floor catalytic converter and use only original equipment parts or their equivalents for your replacement components. After that, bring the car down and disconnect the second thermostat. After that, remove the bolts connecting the maniverter mount and finally detach the maniverter together with the gasket from its spot underneath the engine.
