2007 Jeep Patriot Control Arm Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Install the Control Arm to Maintain Proper Suspension Geometry on 2007 Jeep Patriot?
A: Set the lower control arm where it belongs and place and tighten bolt 5 on it along with nut 6 onto crossmember 7 without fully tightening. After that, fix bolt 3 and nut 2 in place to connect lower control arm 4 with trailing link 1 again without tightening either. Set stay brace 3 on crossmember 1 and bolt it in with screws set to 25 Nm (18 ft. lbs.). After that, install bolt 1 and nut 3 on the lower control arm to secure shock assembly 2 loosely. Place the lower connection stud on the right side of the bar link toward the back of the car and the left side stud toward the front, to keep the suspension in the right position. If you have a stabilizer bar link, attach it to lower control arm 4, put on nut 2 and while holding the stabilizer bar link's lower stud stationary, tighten nut 2 to 58 Nm (43 ft. lbs.). Carefully mount assembly 1 and attach nuts 3 to 100 ft. lbs. torque for wheels. Raise or lower the vehicle to suit, placing it on an alignment rack or drive-on lift so you can reach its mounting bolts and nuts. First tighten the bolt at the crossmember to 95 Nm (70 ft. lbs.), then tighten the bolt at the trailing link to the same pressure and finally tighten the shock assembly lower mounting bolt nut to 99 Nm (73 ft. lbs.). When required, perform a wheel alignment of your car.
