2008 Jeep Patriot Control Arm Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Install the Rear Lower Control Arm on 2008 Jeep Patriot?
A: Begin by placing the lower control arm into position and install bolt 5 with nut 6, but don't tighten for now. Then, install bolt 3 and nut 2 to join the lower control arm 4 to trailing link 1 and continue without tightening anything yet. Place stay brace 3 onto crossmember 1 and set mounting screws 2 until they reach 25 Nm (18 ft. lbs.). Now, set bolt 1 into the shock and fit nut 3 onto it so the shock is held by the lower control arm. To achieve proper suspension geometry, the lower side mounting studs on the right and left side should aim consultink toward rear and front ends of the vehicle when attaching the stabilizer bar link to the lower control arm. If your car comes with one, fasten the stabilizer bar link to lower control arm 4, add the nut and with the stabilizer bar link lower stud still, tighten the nut to 58 Nm (43 ft. lbs.). Attach the tire and wheel assembly 1 by tightening the wheel mounting nuts 3 to 135 Nm (100 ft. lbs.) and bring the vehicle down. Park the vehicle on an alignment rack or drive-on lift, then lift it as needed to reach the bolts and nuts of the mounting assembly. Start by tightening the lower control arm mounting bolt nut at the crossmember to 95 Nm, then proceed by tightening it at the trailing link to 95 Nm and finally the shock assembly's lower mounting bolt nut to 99 Nm. When needed, have your car's wheel alignment adjusted.
