2007 Jeep Patriot Timing Cover Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Install a Timing Cover in an Engine on 2007 Jeep Patriot?
A: When setting the timing cover, check that all the joint areas are dry and apply a 2 mm line of Mopar engine sealant at the corner between the block and pan as well as where the ladder joins the engine. Replace the timing chain cover by pushing it up from below the vehicle, tightening M6 bolts to 9 Nm and M8 bolts to 26 Nm. Put in the accessory drive belt tensioner, right engine mount bracket, upper idler pulley and right engine mount, followed by pulling out the jack from the engine. Set up and put in place the power steering pump, lift up the vehicle and foot the oil pan to the timing chain cover's lower bolts. Assign the timing chain cover retaining bolts, then fit the water pump pulley, crankshaft pulley and the lower idler pulley, mount the lower A/C compressor mounting bracket and A/C compressor, set the accessory drive belt and finally install the right lower splash shield. Join the vehicle to the ground with a safety strap, raise it, install the cylinder head cover, hook up the coil electrical connectors, join the PCV hose to the PCV valve and make up the air hose. After putting in the power steering reservoir, windshield washer bottle and coolant recovery bottle, fill the cooling system and join the negative cable to the battery. Next, mount the air cleaner housing, fill the required fluids, start the engine to look for leaks and put on the engine cover pushing down on the rear end.
