2008 Chrysler Aspen Starter Motor Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Remove a Starter Motor from 3.7L or 4.7L Engines with Manual Transmission on 2008 Chrysler Aspen?
A: Before removing the starter motor from a 3.7L or 4.7L manual transmission engine, cut the negative battery cable and raise and support the car. If you have 4WD and specific rear transmissions, take out the two support bracket bolts and gently prise open the support bracket so you can get to the starter bolt beneath. Loose and remove one bolt (9) and one nut (8). Suit the starter motor (5) in front of the vehicle so that the nose of the housing becomes visible beyond the other part. Ensure you support the vehicle and not let it hang on just the wires. Point the front of the vehicle down and place the starter motor beneath the battery, then release and remove nut (2) that links the battery positive cable wire harness connector eyelet (1) to the solenoid battery terminal stud. Remove from the solenoid terminal connector receptacle and remove the starter motor by disconnecting the battery positive cable wire harness connector (7). When both your 3.7L or 4.7L engine and your vehicle have an automatic transmission, you'll only need to remove two bolts (3). You'll need to disconnect the battery, lift the vehicle and remove the bracket bolts if present, before taking out the two mounting bolts (2) which applies for a 5.7L V-8 engine as well. Move the starter motor to the front, fix it with support, lower the nose of the car, disconnect the retaining nut that holds the battery positive cable connector to the solenoid terminal stud, remove the eyelet and unconnect the battery positive cable connector from the solenoid terminal.
