Chrysler Aspen Starter Motor Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Remove a Starter Motor from 3.7L or 4.7L Engines with Manual Transmission on Chrysler Aspen?
    A:
Start by unhooking the vehicle's negative battery cable and then support it while it's raised. Removing the support bracket is possible if your car has 4WD and the required transmission, by prying the support bracket while leaving the bolts in the transmission. Taking out bolt (9) and nut (8) will open the cowl. Push the starter motor towards the front of the vehicle to move the starter pinion housing out of the housing, be sure to hold the motor in place while doing so. Dip the nose and remove the eyelet held by nut (2) attaching the battery positive cable wire harness connector to the solenoid battery terminal stud. Take off the positive battery cable wire harness connector (7) from the solenoid terminal connector receptacle and take out the starter motor. With these transmissions, you still begin the same way as before, but replace the two bolts (3) with three. Disconnect the battery cable, lift and support the vehicle and then take out the two support bracket bolts and two mounting bolts (2), just as you would for the 6.0L V-8. Draw the starter towards the front of the car, support it with a jack, tilt the nose downwards, separate the battery positive cable wire harness connector from its connector eyelet, take off the eyelet, pull the connector from the stud of the solenoid terminal and unfasten the starter motor.
