  A: Before servicing or repairing the starter motor, remove the negative battery cable and support the vehicle so that it is raised off the ground. After that, take out the lower engine panel and unplug the right O2 sensor electrical connector. Remove the right side exhaust pipe from the exhaust manifold down to the rear exhaust setup. With all the pressure gone, remove the starter bolts and adjust the starter so you can work on the starter electrical cables. Open the protective cap over the positive cable for the starter and unfasten both nuts holding on the positive and ground cables. Take the starter out of the vehicle as your last step.
