2008 Chrysler Pacifica Automatic Transmission Filter Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Service and Repair an Automatic Transmission Filter and Fluid on 2008 Chrysler Pacifica?
A: You should first lift the car on a hoist and place a container under the transaxle oil pan before servicing and repairing the fluid and filter. Unscrew both mount-to-crossmember cradle nuts, place a suitable screw jack and a wood block under the engine and transmission to raise them slightly and make it easier to remove the oil pan. Turn the bolts holding the pan and gently bump one section to break the seal and let the fluid out before removing it. Replace the filter and o-ring in the bottom of the valve body and then clean both the oil pan and the magnet. Attach the oil pan again with new Mopar Silicone Adhesive and tighten its bolts up to 19 Nm (165 in. lbs.). Insert four quarts of Mopar® ATF+4 through the dipstick hole, start the engine and idle it for a good minute. After setting the brakes, push the lever through each position until it's back in park or neutral. Lift the engine dipstick out and add fluid so the liquid appears 3mm (1/8 in.) below the bottom mark, then check the transaxle oil depth once the engine is warm enough (at 180°F [82°C]). Set the dipstick completely before starting so that nothing can get into the transaxle. Please make certain that the transaxle is running at full operating temperature and use a suitable vacuum tool, ensuring it goes all the way to the bottom of the oil pan in the dipstick tube. With the suction line out, use the dipstick tube to add four quarts of Mopar® ATF+4, then turn on the engine and check the level, as you did before.
