2008 Chrysler PT Cruiser Water Pump Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Remove and Replace a Water Pump on a 2.0L/2.4L Engine on 2008 Chrysler PT Cruiser?
A: Treat the new O-ring in the water pump body with Mopar(R) Dielectric Grease and make certain it is in place and does not move as you screw the water pump on the engine to prevent any damage and prevent any leaks. Next, put the pump body onto the block and tighten each screw until you reach 12 Nm (105 in. lbs.). Twist the pump by hand to make sure it moves properly and only then add your coolant to the system. Pressurize your cooling system to 103 Kpa (15 psi) using a pressure tester and make sure the water pump shaft seal and O-ring have no leaks. Afterward, set the rear belt cover and camshaft sprockets in place and then install the timing belt.
