2008 Dodge Avenger Oil Filter Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Replace an Oil Filter on 2008 Dodge Avenger?
A: Before you change the engine's oil and filter, run the engine until it's properly warm, put the vehicle on level ground and then turn it off. Lift up the car on a hoist and remove the oil fill cap before you start. Fit a suitable pan or container beneath the oil pan drain plug (2), take out the drain plug to drain out the oil, inspect whether the drain plug threads show any sign of damage and change the drain plug and gasket if needed. Now, unscrew the oil filter and install a new one, turning it by 14 Nm (10 ft. lbs.). Place and tighten the oil pan drain plug back into place with 40 Nm (30 ft. lbs.) of force. Drop the vehicle, add the required kind and amount of engine oil and put on the oil cap. With the engine running, watch for any leaks and then after stopping, look at the oil level. All engines need a Mopar(R) or similar, full-flow, disposable type oil filter which should be changed out each oil change. Always get rid of used engine oil safely, so it doesn't put your health at risk.
