2008 Dodge Challenger Instrument Cluster Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Install an Instrument Cluster and Safely Disable the Supplemental Restraint System on 2008 Dodge Challenger?
A: The first step before installing the instrument panel is to disable the supplemental restraint system. Do this by disconnecting the negative cable from the battery and then waiting for two minutes for the system capacitor to discharge. Don't knock or drop the Occupant Restraint Controller, since it can break the impact sensor. If you need to switch both the Occupant Restraint Controller and the Occupant Classification Module, change one at a time and confirm the supplemental restraint system by doing the test after each replacement. If it's required, add convenient spring nuts under the dash and position the instrument panel assembly into the vehicle by driving the steering column end through the dash opening and adding the panel onto the supports. Install all bolts for the instrument panel, securing these parts: the top to 8 Nm, the side supports to 27 Nm and the bottom to 6 Nm. Instead of the water bumpers, install the end caps on the instrument panel and on top of the defroster grille. Assemble the wiring from the A-pillars and add back the trim panels for those pillars. Connect the wire harness connectors to the panel wire harness connector, connect the antenna coax to the coax extension on the panel and put in the center floor console. Attach the body wire harness connectors to the transmission control module and to the wire harness connectors for the instrument panel. Install the steering column where necessary, set the instrument panel steering column cover reinforcement onto the bracket and attaching it with screws. Place the steering column cover in the vehicle, tie the cable of the hood release handle to the hood release and the wire harness connector to the trunk switch. Screw the steering column cover onto the instrument panel, wedge the silencers for the instrument panel on both sides and install the glove box. At last, raise the vehicle, install the steering column into the steering coupling and lower it down slowly.
