2008 Dodge Challenger Seat Motor Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Safely Service and Repair a Power Seat Motor on 2008 Dodge Challenger?
A: Before servicing or repairing the power seat motor, first cut the battery's negative cable. Some symptoms of the locking mechanism being active are a loose locking pawl, a locking pawl pinned to the seat frame side member or just the outboard-side height adjuster working which points to a missing or broken shear pin. In these cases, simply change the height adjuster assembly, do not try to fix it, since it could lead to serious harm. In the case of a front-tilt motor, lift out the seat and slide off the cushion and its pan before working on the motor. Take out the fasteners that keep the motor attached to the seat adjuster after removing the motor's electrical connector. Be careful around the height adjust motor if it isn't working and the power seat isn't all the way up, since the spring in the seat adjuster can cause the motor to move once fasteners are taken out. Raise the power seat to the top spot if the height adjust motor is functioning, before you disconnect the battery. After turning off the power, remove the seat that doesn't work, then the seat cushion and pan. First, unplug the motor connector, release the motor from the seat adjuster with the fasteners, take off the screw and washer from the motor's shaft and remove the motor from the seat adjuster.
