2008 Dodge Challenger Power Steering Pump Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Remove a Power Steering Pump on 2008 Dodge Challenger?
A: The first thing to do is turn off the battery by disconnecting its negative cable. Then, permit the engine access and detach the connector from the intake air temperature sensor. Undo the clamps at both the throttle body and air filter assembly and pull out the clean air tube. Unhook the make up air hose and the air filter assembly bolt and remove the top of the air filter assembly. Preventing the tensioner arm from moving to its free position prevents the tensioner from suffering severe damage. Spin the tensioner counterclockwise until you feel it come up against its stop, take off the drive belt and slowly pull the tensioner onto the free arm position. Drain the power steering fluid through the pump reservoir and once it's drained, take the hose clamp and supply hose off the pump. After that, take the pressure hose off the power steering pump. Pull the bolts from the mounts through the holes on the pulley before taking the power steering pump from the engine. If you must remove the power steering pump pulley, use the proper procedure.
