2008 Dodge Charger A/C Expansion Valve Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Service and Repair an A/C Expansion Valve on 2008 Dodge Charger?
A: Complete the repair or service of the expansion valve by cutting off the negative battery cable before starting. Take out the refrigerant from its place in the system. After that, take out the bolt holding the refrigerant line bracket to the left front shock tower. Following that, open the nut securing the tapping block to the A/C expansion valve. First, cut off the wiring between the pressure transducer and the A/C harness to make it easier to disassemble the A/C expansion valve mounting flange. Take off the suction line and the liquid line from the A/C at the expansion valve and arrange the refrigerant lines far from the valve. Take out and discard the dual plane seal from each line fitting, then insert plugs or cover the open passages with tape. Unfasten the expansion valve from its bracket by removing the two bolts and the A/C expansion valve from where it sits in the foam seal and tapping block at the evaporator tube. Take out the dual plane seal from the evaporator tubes, then add plugs in or cover the ports opened in both locations with tape.
