2008 Dodge Durango Fuel Rail Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Install a Fuel Rail on a 3.7L Engine on 2008 Dodge Durango?
A: The first thing to do when installing a 3.7L engine's fuel rail is to prepare the fuel injectors. Clean the boring in the intake manifold and apply a little engine oil to each fuel injector O-ring before inserting them. Guide each fuel injector into an opening in the cylinder head using the fuel rail/fuel injector assembly and being careful not to harm the O-rings during assembly. Pull down on the right side of the fuel rail and hold them down there until fuel injectors are seated on the cylinder head, then repeat on the left side. An important aspect is tightening the fuel rail mounting bolts as per the expected specification. After that, mount the six ignition coils, match the electrical connectors to the throttle body and attach all the connectors at the fuel injectors, pressing the red slider to ensure each is secure. Attach the needed vacuum lines to the throttle body, install the air resonator bracket on the front of the throttle body with two bolts and put the fuel line latch clip and fuel line into place on the fuel rail. Attach the air box to the throttle body and fit the air duct into the air box afterward. Make sure to finish by linking the battery cable to the battery, starting the car and checking for leaks.
