How to Install a Fuel Rail on a 3.7L Engine on Dodge Durango?

Before you install the fuel rail on the 3.7L engine, make sure that all the fuel injectors are set for installation. Use a rag to wipe out any leftover fuel from the intake manifold's machined bore, then apply just a tiny bit of engine oil to the O-rings of every fuel injector. Gently fit the fuel rail or fuel injector assembly over the machined openings, making sure you do not ruin the O-rings. Firmy press down on the right-hand side of the fuel rail until the injectors are placed on the proper part of the cylinder head and do the same on the left side afterward. Place the fuel rail mounting bolts before securing them following the correct instructions. Following that, put in the six ignition coils and securely attach the electrical connectors from the throttle body and all fuel injectors. Connect the needed vacuum tubes to the throttle body, place the air resonator mounting bracket near the front using two bolts and attach the fuel line latch and line to the fuel rail. Attach the air box to the throttle body and then put the air duct onto the air box. Now, attach the battery cable to the battery, start up the engine and verify no leaks are present.

How to Service a Fuel Rail Assembly on Dodge Durango?

Before working on the fuel rail assembly, be sure the fuel pressure is released. Disconnect the negative battery cable and remove the air cleaner as the first step. Release the fuel pressure, then take out the throttle body from its place on the intake manifold. If the vehicle includes air conditioning, take away the A-shaped bracket that bolts the A/C compressor to the intake manifold using three pieces. Remove the connector from the fuel injector by placing the red tab into the deployed position, removing the tab and pulling the connector away. Each injector in our set-up has a tag that matches the position found in the wiring harness. Unfasten the fuel tube from the side of the fuel rail and take out the remaining bolts attaching the rail. Take each fuel injector at the intake manifold and remove any dirt or debris from them. Move the left and right fuel rails side to side gently until each fuel injector clears the manifold and remove them both to free the fuel rail. Delete the retaining clips from the ends of the injectors on the fuel rail. Before you put in the injectors, add a little clean engine oil to the O-rings. After that, attach the injectors and clips to the rail. Set the fuel rail/fuel injector assembly over the injector openings on the intake manifold while making sure each injector enters without breaking the O-ring. Drop the fuel rail on the right down far enough so that all the injectors are sitting on the long shoulder, then do the same for the fuel rail on the left. Install the fuel rail mounting bolts, secure the electrical cable to the intake manifold air temperature sensor and lock all the connectors at the fuel injectors. When you have an A/C support bracket, reinstall it and then fit the throttle body, fuel tube and air cleaner. When done, link the battery cable, start the car and check for any leaks.
