2007 Dodge Durango Fuel Rail Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Service the Fuel Rail and Release Fuel System Pressure on 2007 Dodge Durango?
A: It is important to release all fuel system pressure before servicing the fuel rail, because the system continues to be under pressure when the engine is not running. Why you should not take apart the left and right fuel rails is because the tube design lacks clamps which means it's best not to use any clamping devices. You should take care not to bend or kink the tubes when you remove the fuel rail assembly. The first thing to do is take off the gas tank filler tube cap and complete the Fuel System Pressure Release Procedure. First, cut the negative battery cable cable before removing the air duct and air box placed at the throttle body. Also, take out the air resonator mounting bracket upfront from the throttle body. It is attached by two bolts. To disconnect the fuel line at the fuel rail and the fuel line latch clip, you'll need a specific tool. Take out any vacuum lines if they are there and pull away the red slider, press the tab and remove the connector from each of the six fuel injectors. A tag is used on the injector ends of the fuel injection wiring harness to show their position. Unplug the harnesses at all the throttle body sensors and pull out the six ignition coils. Once you're done, take out the four bolts connecting the fuel rail to the engine. Gently rock and pull on the left fuel rail until you hear the fuel injectors describe the machined holes and do the same on the right rail until all the injectors have cleared the holes. After that, take out the fuel rail that still has the injectors hooked to it from the engine. If you have to extract the fuel injectors, make sure you do so with the proper procedure.
