2008 Dodge Durango Wheel Bearing Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Service and Repair Wheel Bearings and Wheel Hubs on 2008 Dodge Durango?
A: First, get the vehicle onto jack stands, then bring out the wheel and remove the tire to service the hub and bearing. Next, remove the brake caliper from the rotor and if there is an ABS wheel speed sensor, you'll need to take that out as well. On 4X4 trucks or cars, take out the halfshaft nut. Don't let a hammer strike the knuckle; use the nut and puller 8677 to take out the tie rod without risking damage. Just as before, undo the upper ball joint nut and then use puller 8677 to take out the upper ball joint from the knuckle. Step on the brake, pull down the steering knuckle to separate the half shaft from the hub/bearing and take out the three bolts keeping the hub/bearing attached to the steering knuckle on 4X4 models. After that, extract the hub/bearing from the steering knuckle and take out the brake dust shield.
