2008 Dodge Grand Caravan Camshaft Parts and Q&A
Q: How is a Camshaft Installed in an Engine on 2008 Dodge Grand Caravan?
A: Apply engine oil to the lobes of the camshaft and its bearing journals before installation. An extended bolt is helpful in putting the camshaft into its position inside the engine. After that, put in the camshaft thrust plate and tighten its exterior bolts to a torque reading of 105 in. lbs. If the end play of the camshaft is outside of standards, change the thrust plate. Fit the timing chain and all sprockets correctly and always change the hydraulic lifters as soon as you replace the camshaft. Make certain the hydraulic lifters have the lubrication hole pointing upwards. After that, set the timing chain cover into place, install the cylinder heads and fit the cylinder head covers as well. Replace the lower and upper intake manifolds and after that, put the radiator and cooling fan back into their positions.
