2008 Dodge Grand Caravan Crankshaft Parts and Q&A
Q: How is the Crankshaft Removed from an Engine on 2008 Dodge Grand Caravan?
A: You should first disassemble the engine from the chassis and then put the engine on a stand. After that, take off the oil filter, the oil pan and the oil pick-up tube. After that, take the timing chain cover off and remove the chain and sprockets. Following this, take out the rear seal for the crankshaft and its retainer. After rotating the crankshaft, paint mark or scribe where the connecting rod cap is. Cautiously take off the cap covering the connecting rod bearing, not damaging the crankshaft's bearing surfaces and repeat this procedure for every connecting rod bearing cap. After taking apart the engine, toss out the main bearing cross bolts and their washers and install a new assembly when assembling again. Take out the bearing cap bolts and remove the main bearing caps. After that, remove the crankshaft from beneath the engine's cylinder block.
