2008 Dodge Grand Caravan Shock Absorber Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Properly Install a Shock Absorber on 2008 Dodge Grand Caravan?
A: When fitting a strut assembly, put the proper spring on the correct side of the car and never swap sides. First, the strut assembly is bolted into the tower and then the three studs in the upper strut mount are lined up with the holes in the tower and fastened with three matching nuts to 28 Nm. After that, add the cowl grille and the wiper arms. Because the strut clevis-to-knuckle bolts are serrated, do not tighten the nuts until you are holding the bolts still. If the car has eccentric cam strut attaching bolts, make sure the eccentric cam bolt is set in the lowest hole on the clevis bracket. Set the lower end of the left strut in the position aligned with the knuckle, attach and fasten the two strut clevis-to-knuckle bolts and tighten the nuts to 88 Nm, tightening them 90° more. Once you have chosen the new strut, go through the same process, placing the bolts in the front to the rear. Insert the stabilizer bar link mounting stud through the highest hole in the bracket on the strut assembly and while it's in place, thread the nut on and tighten it to 88 Nm. The routing brackets of the left and right wheel speed sensor fit opposite on the strut, so the left screw is installed from the back and the right screw is installed from the front. Secure the wheel speed sensor routing bracket to the mounting flange on the strut assembly and fix the screw at 10 Nm. In the end, put on the tire and wheel assembly, make certain the wheel mounting nuts are tightened to 135 Nm, then lower the vehicle and align the wheels when necessary.
