2008 Dodge Nitro Knock Sensor Parts and Q&A
Q: How is a Knock Sensor Installed and Replaced in an Engine on 2008 Dodge Nitro?
A: The knock sensors are both bolted under the intake manifold in the cylinder block and have just one wiring harness with a single electrical socket. The sensor pair has to be changed in a set, where one sensor wears an identification tag and the other shows a larger bolt head. To ensure proper control, the Powertrain Control Module must sense the correct location of each sensor, so you should not mix them. First, take out the intake manifold. Once you have that done, unplug the knock sensor dual pigtail harness from the wires near the middle of the engine block. Unlock both sensors from the sensor mounting bolts, as the foam strip on the thread is only to help them stay in place during the plant assembly and is not a sealant; do not seal or lock any part of the bolt with adhesive. After that, remove all the sensors from the engine.
