2009 Dodge Nitro Knock Sensor Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Identify and Replace Knock Sensors in an Engine on 2009 Dodge Nitro?
A: The left knock sensor can be found using the LEFT label on its identification tag and a larger bolt head and it attaches with the same wiring harness as the other knock sensor which joins them under the intake manifold. Both the front and rear sensors must be installed together so the Powertrain Control Module detects their locations correctly. The intake manifold should be taken off at first. After that, disconnect the knock sensor dual pigtail harness from the engine wiring harness at the back of the engine. Once that is done, withdraw both sensor mounting bolts and notice that the foam on the bolts is designed just to keep them attached to the sensors and should not be glued to the sensors in any way. The last step is to take out the sensors from the engine.
