2008 Dodge Nitro Shock Absorber Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Service and Repair a Shock Absorber with a Clevis Bracket Bushing on 2008 Dodge Nitro?
A: You should remove the tire and wheel, the disc brake rotor and then the wheel speed sensor for service and repair of the shock absorber. Following this, unlink the stabilizer from the lower control arm and get rid of the clevis bolt holding the control arm in place. Take out the upper ball joint nut next and carefully use special tool 9360 separator to release the upper ball joint from the knuckle. Support the wheel on its axle while lowering the bolt with the cutter to enough clearance to install the press tool and use plenty of extreme pressure grease to coat every thread on the tool to protect it and keep it running well during both installation and removal. The bushing should now be pressed out with tool C-4212F (Press), 9956 (receiver) and 9653-1 (driver).
