2008 Dodge Ram 3500 Ball Joint Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Service and Repair a Ball Joint on a 4X2 (LD) Independent Front Suspension on 2008 Dodge Ram 3500?
A: Before servicing or repairing the ball joint on a 4X2 (LD) with independent front suspension, first remove the tire and wheel assembly. After that, remove the brake caliper and rotor. Take the tie rod out of the steering knuckle connection. Separate the upper ball joint from the knuckle by using Remover 9360. Remove the lower ball joint nut after that and pull the joint away from the steering knuckle with the use of puller 8677. You should use a generous coating of lubricant on the threaded parts of the tool to ensure it works well and will last while you are installing or disassembling it. At the end, push on the ball joint end of the lower control arm with tools 8836-6 (DRIVER), C-4212-F (PRESS) and 8692-2 (RECEIVER).
