2008 Jeep Compass Brake Disc Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Remove and Replace a Brake Disc on 2008 Jeep Compass?
A: It's important to raise and hold up the car first before trying to remove and replace the rear brake rotor. After that, take out the wheel mounting nuts and remove the tire and wheel unit. If needed, pull the caliper's piston back a little to give room between the pads and the rotor; this will help you disconnect the caliper from the knuckle with no harm. Basically, after that, unscrew the lower guide pin bolt at the caliper. As you raise the rear brake caliper, remember not to bend the flex hose too much. Move the caliper up using the upper guide pin bolt as a hinge, just enough so the rotor can be pulled off, then secure the assembly with wire or a bungee cord. With the brake rotor still attached to the wheel's studs, detach it from the hub and bearing and then can remove it.
