  A: Make certain the exhaust manifold, exhaust pipes and catalytic converter are cool to prevent burns while repairing the oxygen sensors on these vehicles. Remove both the downstream and upstream oxygen sensors with an O2S removal tool. Since new oxygen sensors come pretreated with anti-seize compound, leave off the additional compound. Attach the downstream sensor to the catalytic converter and tighten it to 30 ft. lbs. (41 Nm), then join the pigtail harness connector to the engine wiring harness and secure the clip holding the wire harness to the engine or body if it is included. The upstream oxygen sensor should be connected to the exhaust pipe and tightened to 41 Nm (30 ft. lbs.), after which attach the pigtail harness connector to the engine wiring harness and place the wire harness mounting clips onto the engine or body.
