2008 Jeep Grand Cherokee Air Bag Sensor Parts and Q&A
Q: How to service the Air Bag Sensor on the Inner B-Pillar on 2008 Jeep Grand Cherokee?
A: Before starting on the side impact sensor, turn off the air bag system by breaking its connection to the battery. Wait for about two minutes after detaching the cable, so the system capacitor will drain. It is very important to not hit or drop the side impact sensor because this could damage or adjust it incorrectly; a dropped sensor should always be replaced. Place either impact sensor on the inner B-pillar so the anti-rotation pins can fit in the clearance holes. Ensure the sensor is in place by turning the screw only to 6.5 Nm / 60 in. lbs. Secure the harness wire connector to the right part of the sensor and stick the trim piece onto the inside of the B-pillar. Wait until the SRS verification test is done before reattaching the negative battery cable following service to an SRS component.
