Service or repair at the rear of the Parking Assist Distance Sensor by first changing the rear park assist sensor or sensor spacer. Begin by sliding the O-ring spacer tightly over the sensor membrane protrusion with the wide side facing the sensor housing and the narrow side aimed outward. After replacing the sensor bracket, match the sensor up with the bracket and push it so that both the latch on top and the bottom hold the sensor and check that the sensor spacer is there. After that, insert the bracket and sensor unit between the latch features on the fascia molding until every tab is locked, so the sensor membrane is flush with the outside of the fascia molding. Just like with a new unit, if only the sensor or sensor spacer is replaced, attach the sensor in the bracket on the back of the rear bumper fascia until both connection aids are in positions and the membrane remains flat with the molding. Ensure every sensor membrane is correctly centered where the openings meet the rear fascia molding and that there is no pinching of the O-rings, because this can influence the sensors. Attach the wire harness connector to the sensor connector receptacle on the back of the fascia, install the fascia onto the back of your vehicle and connect the battery negative cable once again.
