2008 Jeep Grand Cherokee Radiator Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Properly Install a Radiator to Prevent Overheating on 2008 Jeep Grand Cherokee?
A: Install the radiator or A/C condenser only when the big rubber grommets between the radiator and the car are securely placed where they originally were; these grommets help to prevent overheating. For installations on vehicles that feature air conditioning, gradually put the radiator and fan shroud into the car, guiding the two radiator alignment dowels through the air seals, up through the A/C brackets, all the way up into the grommets on the lower radiator crossmember. The holes in the brackets need to be set between the bottom of the air seals and the top of the grommets. Join the upper and lower radiator hoses and attach hose clamps, with the tangs facing straight downward. Fix the coolant reserve/overflow tank hose to the radiator, then link both the input and output lines of the transmission cooler. Position specially designed screws through the radiator and connect the air inlet at the front of the car. For this 5.7L engine, connect the electrical wire of the hydraulic fan control solenoid. Attach the grille and join the 1/2 in. and 3/8 in. pressure lines to the hydraulic fan drive and tighten the 1/2 in. fitting to 49 Nm (36 ft. lbs.) and the 3/8 in. fitting to 29 Nm (21 ft. lbs.). For an engine with 5.7L, connect the low-pressure hose to the hydraulic fan drive, after which place the spring clamp onto the hose. Fit the filter hoses to the end of the pump and then clip on the new hose clamps. Deflect the blades manually to spot any problems at the fan shroud. Replace the coolant and juice up the power steering reservoir of your 5.7L engine and flush out any remaining air. Next, put in the battery cable and start up the engine, watching out for leaks.
