How to Safely Install Trunk Lid Lift Support on 2008 Jeep Patriot?

Before installing the trunk or liftgate shock support, open the liftgate to prevent exposure to high-pressure gas. Please do not try to dissolve or repair the support cylinders after they are removed. Make sure the retaining clips are resting completely inside the ball socket. Over the ball studs, install the support cylinder and check that the thin side remains connected to the body, with the clips fastened too.
