How to service and repair a rear door striker on 2008 Jeep Patriot?

Before servicing or fixing the rear door striker, make a grease pencil mark on the C-pillar, showing where the door latch striker is located. After that, remove the bolts holding the door latch striker to the C-pillar and detach the striker.
