2009 Chrysler 300 Battery Cable Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Maintain and Fix Battery Cables on 2009 Chrysler 300?
A: Before servicing or repairing battery cables, ensure the engine is turned off and all electricity is turned off using accessories. Place the spare tire cover aside, remove the negative cable from the battery, unlink it from the frame and remove the bolt on the right front strut tower where the cable was attached. Put the vehicle on a hoist and then detach the fastener that joins the negative cable to the transmission housing. Take out the battery cable retaining pushpins, fasteners and routing clips to release the cable, then remove it from the car's engine compartment. In the back part, again unplug the negative battery cable and separate it from the vehicle and from the body. Just like you did before, turn the ignition switch off and make sure all other electrical accessories are off as you try the positive cable from the battery to the bulkhead. Start by taking out the battery's negative cable and then remove the battery's positive cable. Take out the Power Distribution Center cover and the attached fastener for the battery's positive cable to the rear PDC. Get the positive cable from the routing clips in the back compartment, take the right front seat and right rear cushion out and remove the right front and rear door sill trim panels along with the right B-pillar lower panel. Lay the carpet to one side, unfasten the clips holding the positive cable in the back and remove the insulation covering the fastener under the back seat. Remove the battery positive connection from the fastener and, while noting the routes it has under the floor cross members, take the cable out. Remember to turn Off the ignition and switch off every accessory and then remove the spare tire cover so you can reach the battery on the positive cable in the engine compartment. Unhook the car battery's negative wire, hoist up the car, take off the front wheelhouse splash shield and reach the positive battery cable's bulkhead outside terminal. Get rid of the battery positive cable fastener from the bulkhead and the starter fastener as well. If you have a 2.7L or 3.5L, pull the battery cable out from the routes on the back of the engine. For a 5.7L, pull the cable from the route behind the starter. Lastly, open the battery's positive terminal, taking care of how you place and remove the cable.
