2009 Chrysler 300 Sway Bar Kit Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Remove a Sway Bar Kit from the Rear Suspension on 2009 Chrysler 300?
A: Disconnect the battery negative cable from the battery post before starting to remove the rear suspension's sway bar kit. After lifting the vehicle, get rid of the wheel mounting nuts and assemble the tire and wheel from each wheel on the rear part. After that, take out the rear exhaust system. Place index marks at the alignment points on the rubber coupler and axle flange, remove the bolts and nuts from the coupler to flange and tie the propeller shaft to the tank straps with a bungee cord. Disconnect the front parking brake cable from the connector to the right rear parking brake cable first. After that, remove both parking brake cables from their respective fastening points at the equalizer and on the rear crossmember flange. If the vehicle has standard or premium brakes, eliminate the caliper guide pin bolts from the system, remove the caliper and the brake pads and hoist the caliper with some cord or wire above the rear suspension. Use a trim stick to push the pistons all the way in the caliper bores and then use a jack to raise the spring link so you can reach the bolt at the bottom of the brake caliper. Take out the caliper bolts, then pull the whole caliper and brake pads off the wheel and hang them nearby. Remove the wheel speed sensor wires from the harness connector in the floor under the luggage compartment and pull the left sensor cable out of the clip on the suspension crossbar. Take out the lower bolt and nut at every shock absorber mount and note the position of the rear crossmember on the vehicle's body in each case. To begin, put the jack stands along the front end of the engine cradle and then place a jack underneath the differential on the truck's undercarriage and secure it well. Take out the fuel filler tube and then remove the bolts that hold the crossmember at both front and back. Lower the crossmember first to where you can remove the propeller shaft from the rear axle and then go lower so you can unfasten the sway bar kit. Get rid of the bolts and nuts holding the sway bar kit to the link first and then take off the bolts joining each sway bar isolator retainer to the crossmember. After that, uninstall the sway bar kit, along with its isolators and retainers and uncouple the retainers from the isolators.
