2009 Chrysler Aspen Dimmer Switch Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Service a Dimmer Switch on 2009 Chrysler Aspen?
A: Turn off the SRS by disconnecting its negative battery cable and let it sit for two minutes to discharge. Any work on an HEV car requires a skilled technician to disconnect the battery pack's high voltage service disconnect. Start by taking off the screw that fastens the tilt steering column knob and unhook it from the tilt actuator on the steering column's left side. Then, at the base of the steering column, remove the two outboard screws that hold the upper shroud in place on the lower shroud. Press hard from both sides of the upper shroud to pop the snap features and after that take out the upper shroud from its place on the lower shroud and steering wheel. Shut off the petrol and take off the center screw that holds the lower shroud to the steering column. Remove the wire harness connector from the backside of the multi-function switch housing. Turn the steering wheel to get to and take out the two screws that fasten the switch to the switch housing inside. Pull the switch control stalk to the left side of the car while still holding it to take the switch out of the mounting housing.
