To remove the combination switch, first turn off the Supplemental Restraint System (SRS) by removing and isolating the negative battery cable for two minutes to allow the capacitor to discharge. First, take out the driver
Air Bag from the
Steering Wheel and after that, separate each steering wheel wire harness connector from the upper Clock Spring connector receptacles. Confirm that the screws attached to the steering wheel puller are tightly held into the armature, but don't damage the Clock Spring. After that, detach the steering wheel from the
Steering Column, next remove the screw with the tilt steering column knob and remove that knob from the left side of the column. From the space below the steering column, loosen the two outboard suspension screws attaching the upper shroud to the lower shroud, then press gently inward on the shroud from each side to release its snaps. After removing the upper shroud from the lower shroud and steering column, take out the screw in the center and remove the lower shroud as well. Separate the wire harness connector from the back of the switch housing and unscrew both screws attaching the switch to the mounts. Use the switch control stalk to pull the switch to the left which removes it from the security housing.
