How to Service the Fuel Pump and Gauge Sender on 2009 Chrysler Aspen?

Careful procedures are needed, because the fuel system pressure stays on, even without the engine running. Remove the bad side of the battery cable and afterward, drain and remove the fuel tank. It is important to see the rotation of the fuel pump module using the indicator arrow attached to its top before removing it. Turn the lock ring remover/installer 9340 to fit the notches on the outside of the lock ring. Put a 1/2 inch drive breaker bar onto the lock ring remover/installer and turn it in the counterclockwise direction to remove the lock ring which will cause the module to jump slightly. Carefully remove the module from the fuel tank so that you don't bend the float arm.
