2009 Chrysler Aspen Fuel Rail Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Service a Fuel Rail on a 4.7L Engine on 2009 Chrysler Aspen?
A: Before servicing the fuel rail of a 4.7L engine, ensure the fuel system pressure has been relieved, as it keeps under pressure even while the engine is not running. Both the left and right fuel rails are replaced together; never separate the halves at the connector tubes that do not use clamps. Take care to avoid bending or twisting any of the tubes during the removal of the fuel rail assembly. First, open the fuel tank filler tube cap, then carry out the Fuel System Pressure Release Procedure. Start by disconnecting the negative battery cable, next unfasten the air duct and lastly take out the air box at the throttle body. Take off the air resonator mounting bracket at the front of the throttle body and then pry open the clip and disconnect the fuel line from the fuel rail with a special disconnection tool. Take away the vacuum lines you need to remove and cut the power to all eight injectors, making sure to push back the red slider for each injector before you cut the connections. All factory injector position labels are attached to the fuel injection wiring harness. After that, take out the connectors from the throttle body sensors and take out the eight ignition coils. Once that's done, take out the four fuel rail mounting bolts. Lightly move and pull the fuel rail on the left until the injectors come free of the holes in the head and do the same to the fuel rail on the right. Once you're finished cleaning, remove the fuel rail along with the attached injectors from the engine. When you need to remove the fuel injectors, use the correct procedure.
