Before you begin any service or repair on the fuel rail, discharge any pressure in the fuel system, since it is always pressurized. Left and right fuel rails are replaced together and need to remain intact; do not separate the rail halves at their connector tubes which do not use clamps. Be careful not to bend or kink the tube lines while taking out the fuel rail assembly. To start, open the cap on the fuel tank filler tube before releasing the pressure in the fuel system. Disconnect the
Air Duct and air box at the
Throttle Body and then the negative battery cable. At the front of the throttle body, take off the air resonator mounting bracket and then unhook the fuel line latch clip and fuel line using a special tool. After that, take out the vacuum lines needed and press away the red slider on each of the eight injectors to separate their electrical connectors. A tag marking the position of each injector is found on the factory fuel injection wiring harness. Unplug all the electrical connectors at the throttle body sensors, after that remove the
Ignition Coils and loosen the four bolts holding the fuel rail. Softly rock and tug on the fuel rail from the left side until the injectors start to clear the holes in the cylinder head and then do the same for the right side. When you're done, take off the fuel rail, along with the injectors, from the engine. If
Fuel Injectors have to come out, use the proper procedure for removing them.
