2009 Chrysler PT Cruiser Oil Filter Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Safely and Effectively Change an Oil Filter on 2009 Chrysler PT Cruiser?
A: Always prevent getting new or used engine oil on your skin for long periods, wash off any contact with soap and water and make sure the old oil is discarded correctly. Changing the engine oil is required each time the Maintenance Schedule for your model includes it. Let the engine get to its normal operating temperature, then put the car on a level spot and bring the engine to a stop. Take off the oil fill cap and lift the vehicle with a hoist. Place a suitable container under the drain plug and after extracting it, let all the oil come out. Afterward, look at the plug and damage on the threads and either use a new gasket and reinstall it or discard it if necessary. Disconnect and remove the oil filter (1) and set the new oil filter (1) in its place. Fit and tighten the oil pan drain plug (2) so that the final torque is 28 Nm (20 ft. lbs.). Move the lever and add correctly measured engine oil designated for this vehicle into the crankcase and then reinstall the oil fill cap. Turn on the engine and watch for leaks, then take a look at the oil level when the engine is off (3). Buy a highly effective disposable type oil filter such as a Mopar(R) or one of similar quality. Take care when discharging old engine oil from your car.
